You may have heard that a massive ad carrier someone calls billboards and others - bigboard. Here is the word meaning history.
Answer: The term "billboard" appeared about a hundred years ago in the USA. The advertising message had the name "bill" and the shield was called "board".
"Bigboard" appeared in the Ukrainian lexicon in connection with the name of the operator of outdoor advertising Big Board and eponymous labels on his first advertising carriers. But in a literal translation from English term "bigboard" means a great shield/big board.
