Civil initiative of outdoor advertizing

Representatives of the outdoor advertizing market took the initiative "Public Board" which main task is to promote creation of responsible civil society in Ukraine.

Appeals at the same time in Russian and Ukrainian languages became the first step of the project: "Choose as the head instead of a stomach", "Promises? Only the real actions!", "Future president! Time of promises passed, we demand the real actions". They were placed at the beginning of May on the OOH carriers throughout the country. Their goal is to pay attention of people to importance of conscious vote at presidential elections.

Elena Beskhlebnaya, the director Big Media sales-house commented this civil initiative: "The outdoor advertizing can become a platform where it is possible to express the civic stand. Today it is extremely important that people could say openly about important for them things, to ask questions and to set concrete tasks for authorities. This platform is created on a voluntary basis. The project is open for all who are ready to make a contribution to development of civil society in Ukraine".

Such initiative shows that advertizing becomes one of the sources of public opinion formation and also its spokesman." There is an important change in outdoor advertizing today: it gets socially significant content turning from the banal instrument of advertizing into a platform for communication of all members of healthy civil society", notes Svetlana Stepanyuk, the Media Director of Master AD.

The initiators' plans are long-run. Katerina Hramova, the managing partner of Prime Group told about prospects of the project development: "Public Board" is the long-term and system project of the largest operators of the outdoor advertizing market. They care about future of Ukraine. In prospect we see its evolution in a platform for dialogue between society, business and authorities. As soon we should elect the new President of Ukraine the first wave of the project is devoted to elections. Further "Public Board" will trace the most actual for society subjects and react to them quickly ".

Representatives of the market are sure that the public initiative will provide a platform for expression of Ukrainians opinion. "The outdoor advertizing can and has to become a public loud-hailer and to have an impact on public opinion formation."Public Board" has no political coloring and doesn't cooperate with any politicians”, emphasized the director of Master AD Andrey Nikitich.
